Problem with Sandisk Extreme USB 3.0 retractor connector

Hi:

For the past four years, I have been able to connect my Sandisk Extreme flash drive into my Laptop’s USB port. Lately, I am not able to insert the flash drive’s connector into my laptop’s USB port because the connector retracts inwards. There used to be resistence to allow me to make the connection but now there is zero resistence. Has anyone experience and solved a similar problem?

The plastic lock wears out over time.  When inserting the drive hold the slider down.  For a more permanent fix glue the slider when the plug is out.  Might be time to get a new one.

Thank you. I thought the same thing too. Sad I have to get a new one.

On the bright side, a new one will be less expensive than the old one.

I also concur with many who have criticized the way the connector extension/retraction mechanism works iTunes Login.

I took a chance and forced mine to open fully. It slid out, popped out a little chunk of plastic, and now works perfectly.
