OS reads Ultra Flash as Hard Drive

I have two 16gb Ultra flash drives. They are working fine; except … Windows 8.1 sees them as hard drives. That prevents using the Ultra as a portable boot drive. I understand there was a period when SanDisk made the change that causes this because of Microsoft’s 8.1 compatability requirements. The practice was later discontinued.

Can I trade in the two drives I have for ones that are not picked up as hard drives?

That prevents using the Ultra as a portable boot drive.

Really!!  As a portable Windows To Go drive or another OS, like Linux?  Some older boot apps don’t support the Fixed USB drives but I think Easy2Go does.  Have you tried it?

As for replacements try:  http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5232/~/return-material-authorization-(rma)-process

Hi Greg, please let us know if you were able to make the trade here. <img src=“https://imagicon.info/cat/5-43/1.gif”/>
