Longevity -- Read / Write

I’m putting a new SDSSDP-064G in my desktop PC as my Operating System “Disk” running Ubuntu 12.04.

I’ve read that I should restrict writing to the SSD as much as possible and there are a couple of linux tutorials giving guidelines to do this.

HOWEVER

I’ve also been told that this advise is no longer (strictly) valid as modern SSD are much more tolerant to repeated read/write operations.

What is the current advice please, and should this worry me?

These drives are rated at something like 80TB written over the lifetime so unless you are doing some really write intensive applications you probably have no need to worry.
