This #^$%*&^ outfit has changed the USB plug size on the Zip from what was used on the Clip & Clip+ without any warning.
I need a longer USB cable than the one supplied with the Zip.
It is no longer a “mini A”.
It is too big to be “micro B”.
So, it has to be either a “mini B” or a “micro A”.
My suspicion is that it ia a “micro A”.
Can anyone give me a positive ID so that I can get the correct cable ordered?
It is, in fact, micro-b. Micro-a is rectangular, micro-b is like the Zip’s trapezoidal port.
I had a similar reaction when I first got mine. But in my case I simply tried to use the cable for my Clip+ on it and found it wouldn’t fit.
SanDisk made the decision to go with the micro-USB connector on this model as that has become the new “standard” what with all the smart phones and such out there. I have no idea whether it is an A or B. In fact, I didn’t know there even was an A or B, or what the difference might be.

I thought my point & Shoot used the micro-b.
Turns out it uses the micro-a.
That leaves the micro-b for the Zip.
Thanks for getting me straightened out.
The longer cable is on it’s way.
