XP Windows 7 File Problem

Somebody on another forum has a Mybook that they used on XP which died. When they connect to Windows 7 the files don’t show. If they connect to another XP they show. They copied the files by drag and drop. Anybody got any ideas I haven’t seen this before?

I got a reply from the poster. I suggested checking show hidden files in folder options and that solved the problem. They used the drive on XP as formatted by WD is it possible it’s a format issue? It seems a bit strange.
