I encrypted a folder on 1T Mypassport from a Win7 PC (not smart I can tell). That computer failed and with if the credentials that would allow me to access the files on My Passport. I didn’t see any threads on this topic, but I can’t be the only person whose made this error.
I’ve tried taking over ownership (through Win folder properties) but though that has somehow allowed me to see the files, I can’t open them or copy them.
Any suggestions?
How did you encrypt your files? You will need to use the same encryption application.
The encryption system provided by WD blocks hard drive access as a whole, and uses separate credentials independent from Windows. As such, if you encrypted your hard drive using WD Security then you should be able to unlock your hard drive and your files.
If your used a 3rd party application then it wold be best to contact the application’s vendor or support team for assistance.
