I bought a 4tb WDBYFT0040BWT-0A AND works properly on win7. I have a 3tb My passport ultra that works nice on Win Xp (Already at 2.6tb used in one partition). But this 4tb is not viewed by XP. What can I do to be able to use it as a one partition like my 3tb. I have a USB 3.0 port PciE card in the XP machine. Thanks a lot all.
This hard drive comes factory-formatted using the exFAT file system for cross-platform compatibility in modern operating systems. You could try formatting the unit to NTFS, but that does not guarantee physical compatibility since firmware optimizations designed to take advantage of modern operating systems may not allow it to work under Windows XP.
This is why Windows XP is not listed as a supported operating system.
