Will "my Passport for mac" work with OS X 10.4?

Hi,  I’m a complete noob here.

I have a Mac mini with OS X 10.4.11.  I would like to buy a “my passport for mac” 500gb WDBL1D5000ABK

Will this drive be compatible with my old OS X 10.4.11 ?  If not, which external hard drive would you guys recommend?

If you check the compatibility list it only shows Mac OS X Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion. But honestly I don’t see why it would not work on 10.4.

Yes, I just set up a brand-new 500GB Passport with my venerable Mac iBook G4 running 10.4.11.

I called WD tech support suggested I just format and partition the disk with the Apple  Disk Utility. It worked like a champ, but of course also removed the WD programs and files that were shipped with the disk. I didn’t need those, anyway.
