Why is the text a little rigidy? Also, what color wallpaper do you use?

Just curious, I usually use the greyish-blue one. Also, how come the text is not 100% clear? I’ve always wondered this. I’d think it would be one of the most important things.

It’s not?

The Text is clearly on mine, maybe it’s LCD problem?

I’ve seen other Fuzes. Look closely at things like the letter C. You’ll notice it if you put your eyes up close and have 20/20 vision.

Mines perfectly fine

It’s not just mine, I have seen other Fuze’s, you probably just don’t realize it. From afar, it looks fine. But on curved letters, it’s not perfectly smooth, it is indeed rigidy. The problem letters seem to be G and Y, the most notably flawed.

Well I wouldn’t spend my time to care about that so much, as long as I can see that is letter C or K and I can be able to read it.

The reasons for the “Ridiges” are called pixels. If you could zoom in on any digital text you would see it. Nothing you can do.

Has anybody seen the 1936 movie “Mr. Deeds Goes To Town” starring Gary Cooper & Jean Arthur? He plays a small-town greeting card writer and part-time tuba player who suddenly inherits a ton of money. He’s a simple man with simple needs and discovers that the more money one has, the more people want to try and take it away from you. So he plans to essentially give it all away to people who need it more than he does so they can create a life for themselves and their families.

This is considered lunacy, so he’s taken to court to determine his mental status. When his 2 aunts (I think) that he lives with are questioned, their unanimous response to his personality and competency is that he is and always has been [Quote] “pixelated” [Unquote]

I find this hilarious that this word "pixelated’ was used 73 years ago in a movie before the digital world was even conceived of or there was even such a thing as a pixel. The word "pixel’ probably wasn’t even in the dictionary until the computer age maybe 25 - 30 years ago. Even today, typing this, the word “pixelated” is not recognized as a valid word with the Spell Checker!

When you  have the time, this movie is a worthwhile expenditure of a couple of hours.

I did a quick search, Tape, (while waiting on an audiobook download) and when checking out the definition of “pixelated”, I found::: “The term should not be confused with pixilated, which means whimsical and bemused.”… the version likely used in your movie (which doesn’t seem to be recognized by spellcheck either).

It’s a good day when I learn something new. BTW, thanks for the movie review; I’ll have to check it out. = : )

Well, as they used to say on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, “Put THAT in your Funk & Wagnall’s!”

Good Stuff! Yes, it seems the spelling is different (that’s definitely the context in which it was being used), which then begs the question, where did the word ‘pixel’ come from?

No, I’m not going to look it up in Wikipedia; I’m just thinking out loud. Thanks for the clarification, Blue.

According to computer legend, it’s short for “picture element”.

What ever you do with the movie Dont confuze the one Tape Mentioned with the Adam Sandler one. They arent comparable. Not saying one is better or worse but rather like apples and tomatos.

Text still looks better on an Ipod though.

Its actually not. The quality is worse. Its Smaller. Thats why. The Fuze screen is small enough, making it like the ipods would be making trash.

This coming from the person who compared iPod and Sansa sound quality based on the stock earbuds…:smileyvery-happy:

I guess you didn’t realize that most people use stock buds rather than go out and by new ones, atleast at first. Talk to yourself, because the average user ain’t listening.

There’s been a couple threads…one in the Clip board, and one in the Fuze board…talking about what headphones we all used…did you read them?

Do you realize that if you are taking the time to come on here, you probably aren’t an average user? I’m in high school still, so maybe you don’t realize how many people I see with mp3 players. Most of these people are average users, and most use the stock earbuds. Alot of these people that do not use the stock bud because they lost them or they broke, or they prefer the feel of in or around ear buds. I really doubt a lot switch because of sound quality.

Where do you stand? Are you using the stock buds? Or have you upgraded? My point to you beforewith the SQ comparison between iPod and Sansa was that it can’t be properly compared with basic buds.

I’m willing to accept the premise that many of the people that come here are newbies to the scene, and still using the stock buds, and all that. But there’s many more that really are quite knowledgeable that come in here. neutron bob is very bright, has tons of sansas, do you think he uses the stock buds? No.  I used mine for 2 days…and it was my first mp3 player ever. It had been years since I had had headphones at all.

And the start of this thread…ok, valid point. But to suddenly throw in"text still looks better on an iPod though" …“most of these people” to use your term, could probably care less about an iPod…or else they would have one! I’m willing to admit that the video issue with the Fuze is legit…but to quibble about the letters on the screen…come on now, that’s just silly.
