I visited a local store which had a Fuze on display and tried to go into the menu to check the information and other things out. Only one problem, though. There was no settings menu. I looked and looked and could not find a way to access any settings menu. And I’m not ignorant about gadgets.
How do you do it? How do you access the settings on a v2 Fuze? I’m assuming the one in question is a v2 Fuze because I have a v1 and the settings are readily available.

Okay, how do you disable the demo mode?
What is it that you must see in the settings? As Tapeworm said, it’s designed to function just like a V1, all the menus will be the same, the only difference may be a slight difference in available capacity due to different firmware…but it’s not enough to be concerned with.
It’s still nice to be able to have a look myself. It’s kinda like test driving a car where the saleman does all the driving and tells you how it feels. I’d rather check the Fuze myself just out of a desire to experience it.

Rockbox’able applies only to the V1.
If you’re looking at one on display in a store, it’s almost guaranteed to be a V2.
Not only that, but if there’s a display model, you’re unlikely to get that particular unit if you buy one. Most likely they will have stock of new sealed ones that could be either 1’s or 2’s.
At this point though, as Marvin mentions . . . the v2’s have been out for just about a year now. They surfaced on Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving) in 2008. So the likelihood of a store still having stock over a year old while not impossible, is fairly dubious.
The Settings menu is found by pressing the Home key in the upper right. You are in the main menu when you see the rolling group of icons. Roll the scroll wheel until Settings is shown in text, and the EQUALIZER icon is visible.
Press the center button. If you scroll down to System Settings, you have access to the configuration menu.
It technically wasn’t the common demo mode. This was a different setup. All of the menus were were present and everything looked just like a normal Fuze menu system. It just didn’t have the settings menu as a selectable menu. It didn’t show any settings selection at all. All of the other usual menu selections were there except the settings. With a little button magic I figured it out.
dude thats easy haha. That happened to me before. When you turn it on hold all the buttons until this option sign showing diagnosics, demo mode, north america etc. click north america.
