Western Digital 3TB Drive Issue with Windows XP

Just wondered if anyone had any advice. Got a 3TB WD My Book drive. Been working great on my Windows XP computer. Computer underwent it’s latest update and now it doesn’t recognize my drive. Got any tips? I’ve been scanning the forum and one of the suggestions was to check out the drivers on the device manager. Is that one solution? Is there a software patch?

Advice is helpful. Thanks!

If you are talking about a Windows update try going into System Restore and pick a date before the problem started.

simple  , new patches  usually a bad idea - – unless

you try to be a coder / developer,   xp won’t let you try new thing unless you install this and that

e.g.   dot net framework 3,   patches to fix your xp  – otherwise it won’t allow you to go on

you got a serious problem with virus,  trojan  whatsoever, even deleting all cookies won’t remove that hidden worm etc

otherwise, don’t get update the patches – esp the default setting of GETTING AUTOMATIC UPDATES

!!!

you get mybook because you wanna to do proper data back up or ghost backup right

since you can turn on your computer

why not restore your computer to a previous  FAST and very CLEAN GHOST image – I always do that

i.e. if I install some new software, then I back up registry,  RESTORE point creation, save all  bookmark (I do it the stupid way) and  some setting of my Foreign currency trading  stuff (some files have to save up and copied there)

then screw up the windows by installing this and that – as much as I could

when the window xp get slow again – do all the above

get a copy of the clean  ghost image (always in my partition) and then restart ghost restore again

then it is like a clean NEW baby again

if you forgot to ghost or do proper backup – hard to tell where is YOUR PROBLEM now – does myBOOK help you in that situation (or factory reset  restore to your brand new computer window coudl help out) – I dunno

i have the same problem. i dont know how it happened. i used in in my laptop and in my fathers windows xp pc. it was working until today. now he tinks i messed it up.  i looked at forums and stuff but in computer manger it says not recognized or initialized. any suggestions? thanks

why is this happening to some other people too?
