WD Software-yes but virtual CD-No & therefore no drivelock available

I have WD Smartware on my brand new  My Passport Essential SE drive. But  there is no vritual CD drive visible in My Computer, and I can’t setup security on the drive because it doesn’t appear in the WD Smartware window.

The new drive is only visible as a normal drive in My Computer.

I have three other WD external drives, all of which show up in the WD Smartware window, but not the new one.

What could be wrong?
