WD Software Starts Up by Itself

In MSCONFIG, under Services, I stopped WD Backup, WD Drive Manager and WD Rules months ago, and under Startup, I stopped WDDMStatus.exe and WDDriveAutoUnlock.exe months ago.

However, when I go into Services.msc, I almost always see WD Drive Manager, WD Backup and WD Rules as Manual and Started. Since I stopped them in MSCONFIG, why and how does it start up by itself and how do I keep it from starting until I want it started (by starting it manually in Services.msc)?

Hello,

If you don’t want to use Smartware then I recommend that you uninstall the software from your computer.

If you do want to use it but you want to schedule backups then I suggest you upgrade to version  2.1.0. (this version has an option to schedule backups)
