My system was acting incredibly sluggish and beach-balling every mouse click- Opened up Activity Monitor and saw that WD Smartware was using inordinate amounts of processing power; uninstalled it immediately; Cleaned caches with Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner ( http://www.northernsoftworks.com/) and now the machine is back to it’s original speed. Considering that the 1TB passport drive I have is bricked due to the firmware bug, I guess I dont need WD Smartware running on my machine any more-
