WD passport - poor transfer rates in USB 3.0 port

Could anyone help me to resolve the poor data transfer rate from my HP pavillion G6 2008 tx laptop USB 3.0 port to WD paasport drive  (<\below  50 MB for movies and Mp3 files). 

MY laptop is running on windows 7 basic service pack 1 OS and has 4 GB of RAM memory.

Just for testing purposes, I recommend that you try on another computer with USB 3.0 and also try another USB 3.0 cable if possible.

From what I’ve seen 40-50 mbps is about the real normal speed for USB 3.0 The theoretical speeds are just that.
