WD Passport only shows as WD unlock now on my PC

Please help.
I have a WD Passport and have used it in the past for backups to my PC.
It had been a while so I thought I should do a back up and when I had the option to leave the lock unlocked I thought it was easier as I am the only one that uses the Passport.
Unfortunately now it seems that the WD unlock is now showing as Drive E and I haven’t got My passport drive showing anywhere on my computer now.
I can see it in Devices as the USB storage and the properties say that it is working properly but that is all I see now.
I don’t know what I have done wrong to no longer see my disk and would really like to not have to reformat it and lose all that I have on it.
It is a 2T and I have laptop backups on it too.
Is there anything that can be done now or do I just have to bite the bullet and lose all I have and reformat or whatever is needed and start again with full backups on both.
I have Windows 7 O/S on PC it is 32bit and on laptop 64bit.

Found something in internet that might be helpful.

Anyway, did you already scan (deep scan/full scan) your on your PC? If something weird occurs, do the first thing first: scan for viruses and malware…

Thank you for that info andinas. I had a thought and as I have a program that I had forgotten all about I thought I would look in there to see if anything could be done.
It was Paragon disk management - I had bought it when it was very cheap and when I looked it was beyond me so I had left it. Having read about the Drive letter being missing I had a look around in there.
It showed my WD Passport but hadn’t got anything else so looking at the options it allowed me to give it a Drive letter and now I have WD unlock E: and My Passport F:
Once going back and looking on my computer screen I now have my passport and I am glad to say I have done my back up with it.
Not being a techie and in the silver haired brigade I feel very pleased with myself that I managed to get this sorted, but thank you for taking the trouble to answer my call for help.
