So one of my supervisors at work has tasked me to do an easy drive recovery for him.
I work with computers, circuit cards, electronics and this stuff for my job and this seemed relatively easy compared to other stuff I’m working on at the moment, but what was supposed to be an easy fix turned into a (as of currently) a four hour struggle.
So I was asked to just format the drive (hard disk drive) and get it to work again. I’m a fan of SSD more than HDD because i know HDDs are more prone to just die, but i still had hope. I connected the drive to my computer and attempted to format it after the drive was done initializing, and it never gave me a storage capacity information under the “My PC” page. I took it with a grain of salt and proceeded to open the drive (labeled D:/ for short from here on). That’s when it told me that there was an error in opening D:/. As an electronics technician would, i switched the USB connectors with another external drive i had on hand along with changing USB ports, and it gave me the same thing. From there i went to try and format D:/, but after struggling to begin, i was given an error saying the drive was unable to be formatted. Then I went into it’s properties and checked to see if there were any software errors, and a few came up. I can’t remember what they were exactly but i do know that they were directory issues. I powered off the drive and tried again, to achieve the same results. This ended up repeating for a half hour or so. I took a break to get some lunch, ejected the drive, and came back to find that the drive doesn’t register in the PC at all anymore. I also noticed that in the technical document, the E6B model flashes al LEDs repetitively for about five minutes occasionally, and then turns off and then back on again. I can’t connect to the internet to try and troubleshoot from there because where I work, we don’t have service or wifi (only our issued computers that i can’t download or install anything on, what i’m using now), and there’s no way for me to even connect it over any network connection.
That being said, i hope this can be resolved quickly. I’m trying my best and my supervisor needs the drive back as soon as possible, and i hope someone can help.
Thank you, in advance!
