WD Passport 4TB Disk Write Errors

I am having trouble with my WD passport. Using the passport for any everyday use such as storing documents and pictures is fine, however, when writing to the drive using 3rd party programs, things get a little choppy.

For example, using a Teracopy program, I often get a ‘Severe Disk Write Error’ message. Or on steam (especially) I wanted to install a lot of my games onto it, however, when download I get a ‘DISK WRITE ERROR’ and it always pauses my downloads, which means I need to be there constantly to make sure it downloads without a problem, and I can’t leave it overnight even though my internet is very slow.

Is there a fix to this yet? I’ve already re-formatted the drive and it did not solve this particular issue. So if the issue has a solution please reply to this topic. Thank you in advance!

Hi there,

I would suggest you perform a Quick and extended test) using WD’s diagnostics tool DLG.
This will test the drive for any errors. Either way, I also recommend you ‘Write Zeroes’ to the drive using the same program and then reformat as you normally would on Windows.

Test completed successfully is all it said. Nothing came up saying there were problems Feragui. Do you have any other ideas that can help my situation?
