So I just got this external SSD today. I was borrowing another external SSD for my steam games (but i wanted my own and also need to back up some stream things)… however, I cant install or move a single steam game to this SSD. I tried several “solutions”, but nothing seems to work. I just get hit with “Disk write errors”
I also encountered freezing of my entire laptop a few times. And I/O Errors (0x8007045D) now when i try to create a folder. I genuinely don’t know what is going on. I considered reformatting it to NTFS, but i feel like that shouldn’t be necessary, my other external SSD is exFat too, with no issues. Is my product faulty?
UPDATE: It seems the I/O error is fixed for now. I restarted my laptop (but i did this before and it didnt fix the disk write error), and i put the regular usb tip on the usb-C cable (but this also shouldn’t make anything better because i always used the usb-c for the previous external SSD). I’m currently trying to install a game through epic games, so far it’s installing. If it finishes without issues, i’ll try steam again.
