Hi y’all,
I purchased a MyBook 2TB about a year ago and recently started having problems with it.
When I plug it into my computer it takes forever to recognize and pop up in finder, then when I try opening up a folder it freezes Finder for about 2+ minutes before becoming responsive again and then taking forever to display the files and thumbnails.
I tried running the tests on the WD Drive Utilities but that freezes up as well and when it does happen to load completely, clicking on a button does nothing.
I also tried running the First Aid on Disc Utility on my mac and this is what pops up:

Hello,
Make sure the drive is plugged in directly into a wall outlet just to make sure it is not a power issue. Also if possible replace the USB cable just as a troubleshooting step.

The drive is very slow. About 20 seconds to open a 50 MB RAW photo.
Do you recently install the 10.12.5 update ?
No, I’m still running 10.11.4! Mine wont’ display the contents in the folders until like three minutes later.
I have the same kind of slowness…
Disk utility takes 3 minutes to display.
WD Drive Utilities (2.0.5.18 cannot analyse the array : the quick test failed… with a green check.
I have called Apple support yesterday, and explained the issue. No news for now.
The quick test was failing me until the program stopped working all together.
I finally have all the rest of my files on a seagate drive so i’m going to erase the MyBook and troubleshoot it, see what happens!
