WD MyBook 4TB: How to remove Read Only Attribute on files

When I try to use the Windows Explorer app to remove the Read Only attribute from a file, the process fails, even after I grant administrative permissions. I tried another file manager (Directory Opus) and I get the same result.

The error message says “The system cannot find the path specified”, but of course, the path exists.

The drive is connected to my Netgear R6900v2 router and accessed as a mapped drive using \readyshare\USB_Storage

How do I enable removing read only attributes from files from the My Book external drive?

I found other discussions about read only at the drive level, but I only want to change selected files.

Well, you can connect the drive to your computer and delete those file. Maybe your Netgear router blocking you from delete those file. You can check your router permission on files and folder.
