Hi,

so my problem is a bit strange. 

everytime i connect the drive to my win 7 pc it prompts me to perform a disk scan (and everytime i do it sais that it failed to fix issues). 

I am able to acess my files and data. however, in the wd smartware it sais that there is no writeable paratition.

I only wish to do scheduled backups. when i tried doing it through win 7 backup and recovery the drive does not appear in the backup drivers list. (however in my computer it does appear with letter I).

what should i do to fix this?

Hi, it could be a data corruption problem, backup all the files that you can and then format the hard drive, check the link below for the steps to format it.

actually i restarted my computer (with the wd connected to it) and it seems to have been resolved. strange.
