I recently bought a refurbished wd my book 2tb external hard drive with the intent to use it to back up and move data between my computer, ps3, and ps4. I have formated the drive to fat32 with MiniAide Fat32 Formatter Home Edition 1.05. I put folders titled movie, game, music so it would show up but so far only the ps4 can detect it. I hear the drive spin but it registers no usb drive at all on ps3. I actually have an older wd 2 tb my book that still works fine for both so I know I’m missing something. Have tried on a different ps3 with no luck. Can someone please let me know what I’m forgetting to do? Much appreciated.

Did you include also the “Picture” folder? Also make sure that it has a partition of type Logical FAT32 as that could be the issue here.
You can check this guide. Make sure though to backup your data before doing any formatting.
Also I think many people had issues with their devices not getting enough power through USB if you have access to some hub or other way to give it more power it may help you.
Apparently from my research PS3 can be very picky with external drives.

HI sorry I’ve been away from the computer a couple of days. Thanks for the fast reply. I downloaded the program in the link but I can’t get the option to set as logical to show up under change partition or the tab. I converted my hdd back to ntfs to see if that mattered but I still don’t have the option.
Update, have since bought powered usb hub for the powered external hard drive. No change. i will pass on any info I get if I get it working. Thanks for the tips though
