WD external HD won't let me in

greetings…

i have a WDG1U5000 (500 G)  hard drive that has worked perfectly for 5 years but as of the other day something went “bump in night”.

when i try to open files i get a message that says  "the operation cannot be completed because

you don’t have the necessary permission."

anyone have any idea what my problem is?

Hi, if possible try using another USB cable, you can also use DLG to run a test. Check the link below for more information.
