Wd elements wont reformat

Recently when i plug in my hard drive into my macbook, I get an error message that says “Disk not readable” and gives me the option to Ignore, Eject, or Initialize. Originally it was formatted under fat 32to work on both windows and mac. I went to disk utility and tried to format it under 1 partition like the instructions on the wd website but i kept receiving the error message “disk format failed” i tried multiple times but kept getting the dame error. I decided then to format it under 2 partitions with GUID option under mac os extended journaled this time i get error message “Unable to create {disk name here}, Resource Busy” When i try again same message appears i then tried to format it on windows but the hard drive does not appear on my computer or disk management but shows in devices and printers I cant access it at all from here but am able to eject it. I am not sure what to do to fix this problem my warranty is running out very soon so please help!

Hello,

My recommendation on this case is to write zeros to the drive as this will erase everything on the unit including any partition that you have also if the unit has any bad sectors, it will try to fix that.

You can use the WD DLG tool to do that. Also you will be able to test the drive with the same utility.
