WD Elements SE 500 GB not detected in explorer

Greetings everyone!!

I hv got a WD Elements SE 500 GB ext HDD. Of late whenever i’ve tried connecting it to my PC/laptop, it doesn’t get detected/shown in win explorer. But the LED display of the ext HDD glows, it appears on the ‘Disk Management’ option but says it’s write-protected; also it appears in the ‘Safe Removal Hardware Media’ option.

I ain’t sure of what’s wrong, but i know this issue has driven me crazy, coz i wanna get all the important data on it back… Can anyone who have faced similar problems in the past and hv sorted out this issue or anyone with expertise on the above matter help me sort out this issue ASAP.

Looks like this drive got corrupted since it does not come with an option for security.

Unless of course that someone changed the privileges through Windows.

Try using our Data Lifeguard Diagnostics to test the drive.
