WD Elements no longer recognized

I am using Ubuntu OS. Out of blue, my HDD stopped working.

As soon as I connect, If I do lsscsi -l I get

[12:0:0:0]   disk    WD       Elements 10A8    1042  -
  state=running queue_depth=1 scsi_level=7 type=0 device_blocked=0 timeout=30

If I do cat /proc/scsi/scsi I get

Vendor: WD Model: Elements 10A8 Rev: 1042
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 06

After a few seconds, I hear a click sound from my HDD and the above entries are no longer displayed. Can someone explain what’s wrong with HDD ?

If you are getting a clicking noise, it could be a power issue. Are you using the WD Elements desktop or mobile version?

If is a desktop version, make sure that the power adapter is connected directly to a wall outlet.

Thanks for the reply.

Mine is a USB powered model. There is no external adapter. I tested this with three different laptops (2 Ubuntu and 1 Windows). Same results always

Bump… Any help please.
