I have WD Elements Desktop 1tb drive. I was using it 1 month back. I did not use it for some time (1 month). Now when I am trying to power on the drive, it does not power up.
I have tried followng:
-
tried all over the home with the points.
-
kept the power on for some time.
Appriciate your help.
you could try contacting wd tech support and see about getting another power adapter.
Same thing happened to me with my Book Essentials 2TB. Tech support offered nothing but asking me to try a different outlet. This is the second WD external drive that stopped powering up. I can’t afford to keep replacing my drives not to mention the loss of data.

are you using a surge protector? cause it is starting to sound like you are getting hit with power spikes.
My drive was unplugged and stored. It would not power up when I tried reconnecting the power unit when I needed to retrieve a file. And yes, when it is in use, it is plugged into a surge protector as are all of my sensitive electronics.
pathetic customer service. No reply for my email for 10 days. I am wondering wht to do next. I bought this drive in NJ and I am back in India. Will WD help me? Frusterated/disappointed customer from India.
knowing wd, they will help you, but you might need to push a little.
