WD elements 2TB drive not showing up

Hi,

I have a WD Element 2TB HDD and it’s stopped showing up on my laptop. When I plug it in the light on the HDD flashes and you can feel the disc running for a couple of seconds but then it stops but the light still flashes. There’s no noise from the laptop when I plug it in either. It’s just not recognizing it at all. Any advice would be much appreciated as i have loads of files that i can’t afford to lose.

Check if the drive shows on disk management, try another cable or computer

Drive could be spinning down due to physical problem with heads. Does the drive click few times and then spins down?
