WD Drive Utilities Does Not Recognize My Book Connected Via Router USB Port

I have a My Book drive connected to my computer via a router connected USB port, and it is recognized by my Windows 10 computers as the Y drive. My laptop and my desktop computers can both use this drive, i.e., can read and write to the My Book drive. When I run WD Drive Utilities, it says “Attached a supported WD drive.” How do I get the Utilities to recognize the My Book drive?

if I remember correctly you can’t. The utilities only support directly connected drives (physically connected to the same machine you’re running it on) and not networked drives (which is what your MyBook is seen as in this case.

You’re reading/writing to it via Windows and SMB/CIFS, which has nothing to do with the WD utilities.
