WD Backup discovery problem

I downloaded and installed the new WD backup. it cannot discover my USB HDDs connected to the USB ports. Both tried WD Elements and and a non-WD USB HDD.( It only detects Dropbox account as a target)

Then I opened Smartware just to check, no problem with any of the drives. i can select them both as source and target.

Is there a problem with discover function of WD Backup? there seems no update by the way…

As noted in the release notes, WD Backup works with specified Western Digital external hard drives.

I do not see WD Backup available for the WD Elements, so I would presume it is currently not supported by the application.

i cannot see any release notes in the linked document. it just “mentions” about the release notes, that’s all.

Sorry, I guess Trancer didn’t read the release notes, himself.  The software only recognizes the drives listed in the link below.

thank you. but even that linked mesage says it is available (which mean free of charge) with the listed products. it doesn’t says that it works only with the listed products. If this is the situation, than it must be clearly stated. because eve if it is not available with the products not listed, we can download and have it:)

and if so, why should we use WD Backup instead of WD Smartware Pro if it is able to use non-WD products as well? Is there any convincing reason?
