I could see WD SmartWare but not the HD To fix this I went to Disk Management and changed the Hard drive drive letter to E (from I) Interestingly the SmartWare drive letter was G so perhaps assigning a HD drive letter that superseeds the SmartWare drive letter? Not sure if this will help all but it helped me.
The drive should be seen as long as a drive letter ( any ) has been assigned.
Power cycle the drive and restart the PC if this happens again.
