I dropped my 3tb WD passport external hard drive by accident. When I plugged it in to see if it still works. There was a clicking sound and it wouldn’t show up some of the time and if it did I wasn’t able to access it. Does opening the wd passport avoid warranty even if it is to see what’s going on? Also if so, is there anyways I can still out of pocket to get all of my stuff off of it and transfer to another one that I can purchase? Also how much would it cost?
Hello,
If you use a data recovery company authorized by WD it will not void the warranty. Take a look a the link below.
