Warning - WD software does not save all files

I recently had a sudden SSD crash. No problem I thought - I have my back-up. I was wrong.

I am a climate change impact analysis and I write a lot of ad hoc programs in VB.Net to convert data from different formats. Many of the files associated with the programs were missing, including files with a VB extension which are essentially text files of code.

I also had a separate folder of files for installing different programs. None of the .exe files was saved.

I am continuing to use WD hardware but have given up on their software.

When you did the backups, what software were you using to backup your files?

I was using the software as supplied by WD on my Passport.
