My Book works on my desktop without a password. I don’t know the password so I can’t use My Book on another computer. What is the workaround? I don’t mind factory reset but if this will erase all backup files can I back them up to another drive and then restore them after factory reset? How would I do this?

You should be able to, try to backup the files on a different unit and then, try to erase and reset the drive from the computer where you have the password saved using WD Security
