You might try to install the tool under the Vista compatibily mode. I have had a couple of programs where I had to do that. The programs were OK with Vista 64, but the installer was not.
I am running Vista 64 sp1- the recovery tool installed OK, but did not recover the lost WiFi and other capabilities. See this thread for those issues. As a note, you don’t really have to build a batch file, just run the two programs contained in the batch file from the command line. But follow the rest of the instructions exactly.
