Viewing files in Windows

Hi,

I transferred a lot of files onto my passport from my Mac about 18 months ago and now I need to open them on my Windows 10 laptop. My Mac is pretty much dead now so I need to be able to update whatever I need to from the PC. I don’t want to reformat as I don’t want to erase the drive. I can see the removable device but not any files. What’s the safest way to do this? Thanks.

Windows computer won’t see the drive due to file system difference, Mac operates on HFS+ where Windows is on NTFS.
