Video file types?

When I tried putting a movie in mp4 format on my Fuze, it said that the file type was not supported. I need to know what file type I should have it converted to in order to watch it. File types are either converted or are just AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPG, DAT, ASF, MOV and WMV.
