I am trying to boot a Raspberry Pi 5 using a SanDisk Ultra Fit flash drive and the system takes around 30 minutes to boot! I believe that this is due to an issue with the drive and I requested warranty service. The first response indicated that they did not understand the issue. The second email response indicated that I voided the SanDisk warranty!, See that response below (I have removed links to avoid violating the forum policy).
Dear Lee Leahy,
Thank you for contacting SanDisk Customer Service and Support. My name is Victor B.
Please allow us to inform you, that we suggest our customers to use USB drive for booting Operating Systems for Windows and MacOS only. But since Raspberry Pi is a system that performs continuous data logging when a storage drive is connected to it. And SanDisk does not have any USB device which is designed for continuous data logging purpose. Therefore, using the SanDisk USB device on Raspberry Pi voids the warranty of the USB used.
But we have dedicated a line of microSd cards which you can use to perform your operation on a Raspberry Pi system, If you do not have microSD slots in your Raspberry Pi then you may use our microSD card reader links of all have been attached below.
MobileMate USB 3.0 Reader
SanDisk MAX ENDURANCE microSD
SanDisk High Endurance microSD
