USB Pen drives + WD Smartware

I once saw the drive letter for my USB pen drive on the WD Smartware home page pull down menu, and backed up the contents. I have since been unable to have the drive letter listed, or see the back-up files listed on the ‘Retrieve’ tab.

Is there any way of refreshing the drive list after inserting a USB pen drive?

Since there’s been no replies, maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.

Over the 2weeks of ownership this is one of the issues I’ve discovered & resolved on my own!

If I connect my WDPD (Western Digital Portable Drive) and run WDS (WD Smartware) before connecting my USB pen drive, all is fine and the newly assigned drive letter for the USB pen is recognised by WDS.

However … if I connect my WDPD & run WDS after connecting my USB pen, I have to remove the WDPD (using “safely remove my passport ….”, not just “Exit WD Smartware”) and re-connect WDPD/re-run WDS.
