USB cord will not stay connected to my 500MB WD external hard drive

Anyone else have this problem?  i have the black external WD that resembles a book.  It just says WD on the outside.  It has a model number of wd5000h1cs-00    It appears the plastice case is in the way of the USB plug jack.  Anyone know how I can take the plastic cae off to look in side and perhaps even enlarge the hole where the USB plug comes through the outside plastic case?
