Update 4.5.4.5 won't let me back-up

Hi there! I’ve updated to version 1.5.4.5, restarted my computer (as the installation asked) and when I oppened the program again the “back-up” option is not available, please see image attached.

Is there any known issue with this update? or anything that might help me!

Have not updated yet.  You may try uninstalling, restart the PC, then reinstall the update.

hi there, I’ve just unistalled, restarted the computed, installed again, restarted the computer again.

Open the program and not only im still unable to choose the back up ontion but now it seems that theres nothing backed up (which is not true but is not showing on the software).

Now im really confused!

I have the same problem. I am running Windows 7 HE 64bit. Just updated and it just hangs and also I can’t access the two tabs. Looking for a fix. Thanks.

i’ve got the same problem on 2 machines - a 64 bit + 32 bit box.

Once again another failed update :o(

I have the 1Tb passport essentails SE and using windows7 pro 64bit version. 

No-where does it ever mention that you should uninstall the old software before updating - is this is known fault?

Trying to update with the latest version from WD does not offer a 64bit version or a 32bit - just the 1 “update” on the website - should there be two?

Trying to remove the software results in a failure - i’ve tried Revo to remove the WD software but this doesn’t work as the update appears to corrupt the initial installation.

When I eventually get an older version of the software to install - the bakcup and retrieve tabs are grey - clicking on the settings tab shows a blank screen!

Any advice?

I´ll try later to install an older version of the program (the one that came with the hard drive) and let you guy know what happened

I am hav9ing exactly the same problem!

I discovered that  it works by clicking in the My Passport Icon, in the Home tab.

Yes! That worked for me too. However, WD should get programmers who know that we shouldn’t have to look for a solution. And since when are we supposed to know to click there. It’s like an egreeting where it tells you to click on the icon to play, but they forgot to tell us. Shame on you WD.

Also, a big thank you to Vadir who discovered this hidden trick.

I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the update three times. The result is the same it doesn’t work.

I get the same garbage response from WD all the time. How about fixing the problem.
