I have a WD My Passport ext HD (portable). On my MacBook Pro, have a windows partition & backed up data on that partition. I really am just looking to retrieve data from a certain program called “Heritage Collector”, it is a program used to create “hot spots”, label pics, cropping, sorting, create storybooks, etc. I have worked on several hundred pictures, backed up the laptop, then had issues & had to uninstall “bootcamp” which was the windows partition, & had an Apple certified rep put the windows partition back on the MacBook Pro. Have atempted to retrieve data from the WD ext HD without success. I have tried allowing it to restore all of what I backed up but nothing happens. I have also noted that that for the backup it created 173 backup files even though the backup was done all at once. Am confused as to WHY it would create 173 backup files instead of just on & even if I find the exact file I want to retrieve I seem to be unable to do so.
I tried calling WD support, spoke with a woman I could barely understand & she stated that I should have formatted the HD to EXFAT prior to backing up my data (I was VERY clear about what I was working with, what I had done, etc) therefore the data could not be retrieved. That does NOT seem right to me, the passport was formatted for windows & I was backing up windows supported data.
Can anyone assist me with retrieving my data? Thank you so much for any assistance anyone is willing to offer.
