Two WD my books not playing well together

Hi, sure hope someone can maybe help.   I have WD external drives

Drive 1   1 tb USB 2  Mybook essential

Drive 2   3 tb USB 3 Mybook essential

Windows 7 home 64 bit,  , MSI P67A-C43 ATX motherboard,  all windows, and motherboard have been updated and current.

Because my computer will not boot to any optical disc unless I have ENABLED a bios setting called USB legacy . Enabling this is the only way I am able to boot to CD (believe me hours and hours of troubleshooting with numerous techs have confirmed it)

When USB LEGACY  is enabled…If the 2 external drives are plugged in correctly    USB 2 drive into a USB 2 port ,   USB 3 drive into a USB 3 port…  my comptuer Blackscreens and locks up when normally loading windows.  I did a lot of Troubleshooting with different combinations, here are the results…

-If Only USB 3 drive plugged into USB 3 port - Windows boots fine

-If Only USB 2 drive plugged into USB2 port -  Windows boots fine

-If BOTH  USB 3 drive and USB 2 drive are Plugged in to USB 2 ports - Windows boots fine

-USB 3 drive plugged into USB 3 port and USB 2 drive plugged into USB2 port - BLACK SCREEN

It is important to note, that if USB legacy is disabled…   I am able to plug the drives into the appropriate ports and not have any crashes or black screens.

Can anyone make any suggestions as to what might be occuring.  The whole reason I bought the USB 3 drive is to use it for backup purposes only and enjoy the benefits of the faster USB3 speed.  Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

Hi, you might need to change the boot order from the BIOS, select the internal hard drive as the first option.

Unfortunately I have already checked those options, the boot order right now  is set for the (optical drive first) in case of the need for an emergency recover via a boot disc, and then the internal hardrive is set as the 2nd device.

What seems so strange, is that if either of the external drives are plugged in alone, without the other being attached, there is no problems, if both drive s are plugged in to a USB 2 port, there are no problems.  But as soon as you plug both devices into their respective ports (USB2 and USB3) I get a black screen with USB legacy enabled.
