I just purchased the WD “My Passport Essential - 1 TB”, and I have two profiles on my laptop. One is “work” and the other is “home”. Using the WD SmartWare software, I performed a “Category” backup, but realized it was not backing up essential files on my “home” profile. So I changed the backup to be “File Folders” instead of “Category” and checked the boxes for all of my folders on my C drive, including all “users”. The hiearchy tree shows all files are selected. I ran the backup again, and it did not back up my “home” profile data. Am I doing something wrong?? Why isn’t it detecting my home profile? All documents are on my C drive. Please help!
By design SmartWare will only backup the profile of the user that is logged in, regardless if you do a file backup. You may login as “Home” and rerun the backup.
