Two old WD passport hard drives now not recognized since I set up a new WD passport on my computer

Today I bought and set up a new WD My Passport drive on my Mac desktop computer. Since setting that up and handing it off to my colleague to transfer footage onto, I have plugged in another WD My Passport, which is older but by no means old. It appears on my desktop, but the icon is ghosted and inactive so I’m unable to open it. Seconds later it disappears. This drive worked earlier today. The same happens for another WD My Passport drive that I already had, which is older but again by no means old.

Is it to do with the software of these drives? I can access them on my laptop, but need to regain access to them on my Desktop system.

Any help or ideas about what the issue might be would be greatly appreciated!

Do they work if connected alone instead of alongside the new unit?

No I haven’t tried them connected alongside each other, only each of them alone.

I’ve plugged one of the older drives back in to my desktop computer and it seems to work, but this dialog box keeps popping up. what does it mean?
