Two computer simultaneously

Hi I just bought the 2tb studio edition II and have it raid 1 in mac osx 10.5.8

my question is, why is there two firewire connections on the drive?,

Does it mean that I can connect it and use it two computers simultaneously?

Me and my girlfriend have our computers next to each other photoshopping

and it would be wonderful if we could share the drive,

we don’t have to save or read at the same time we can just say:

-I´m saving now, or I´m opening a file now

and the other one can wait.

Would it work?

Hi,

no, your idea won’t work. The second firewire port is used to add additional firewire devices.

However, you can share the drive via network, if your two computers are on the same network. This way you don’t need to worry about simultaneous acceesing the drive, the system takes care of managing this.

Just use the Sharing tool of the Settings panel on the computer the drive is plugged to.

Hope this helps…
