Trouble mounting a My Book Duo 12tb on a network

I have a new MBD 12 tb that mounts as RAID 1 perfectly on my Macs.
I had it successfully mounting and operating as a Time Machine backup.
Then, I moved my equipment and since then it still works fine on a desktop but cannot be found by my network from my Netgear Nighthawk Router that has a USB 3.0 port specifically for this purpose. Other drives will mount and be recognized as a TM backup, so the setup is clean but the WD drive cannot be found.

  • MacBookPro running El Capitan OS X 10.11.xx
  • Netgear r8000 Router with USB 3.0 (all systems work to spec)
  • WD My Book Duo 12tb RAID 1 6tb/6tb

When it DID work before, it aways showed as Drive M and Drive N on the network, Drive M being the 6tb backup volume. Easy as pie.

Digression with tip to WD:
WD tech support (in India?) was extremely un-helpful, noisy background and not listening at all to details, dropped the call twice with no followup. Zero resolution, zero followup email (requested). Worst TS I’ve had in 20 years of computing, period.

OK, I hope this doesn’t cross WD ‘boundaries’, and would love some actual tech advice without getting the boot for trying WD as Networks RAID. It has worked till now.

Hi creativepaddler,

We have escalated the case and someone should be reaching out to you soon.
