HI,Well i hope this site works, but here is what trying to do.
I have a SEAGATE SSDH HYBRID HDD with WIN 7 installed on it,i want to transfer all of what i have on my old HDD that is 8 yrs. old on to it,but old HDD is still installed in old PC.
I have looked at procedure and it is a little confusing i have all of what was on old HDD backed up on MY PASSPORT,can i just start the retreviable feature and download all that was on old HDD on to new HDD that is called c/ drive on new HDD.
The reason that i hope this site works is when i register on a web site i write down my UN&PW as i register key stroke for key stroke, but when tried to register on this site it told me my passwords did not match yet i have a UN next to sign out.
If you used Smartware to backup your files, check the link below for the steps.
How to retrieve a backup using WD SmartWare Version 1.6.x and earlier
HI,Well went to the link you suggested and it was a waste of my time i got the response there,i even went into BIOS changed boot order brought up old HDD,did another back up of that drive thinking may be somehow wiped the back up of
the old HDD,Then i shut PC down removed old HDD cables so there would be no connection to PC,WD X-TERNAL HDD or
what ever might connect both HDD’S,shut down PC changed boot order back to new HDD&WIN 7 OS.
I then started PC back went WD PROGRAM and tried to do a retrieveal of what i now know should be on WD X-TERNAL HDD and i do not think you can get there from here and i have been working on retrievel for about a week and i am not alone with this problem as it appears to be a common occurence with WD X-TERNAL HDD I HAVE COME TO CONCLUSION I WISH I HAD NOT WASTED HARD EARNED MONEY ON IT.
Heres what need to do when i go into WD and try to install all of the data, files or what ever you want to call them.
My PASSPORT is a " i" drive,MY WIN 7 OS is called a "c " drive you would think that you should be able to set the retrieval
from "i " drive to "c " drive and complete the transfer to the new HDD,BUT I HAVE COME TO CONCLUSION THAT I WILL JUST LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE SINCE I MAY USE ORIGINAL HDD MUCH IT WILL LAST AWHILE.
I will tinker with when i do not have a bad hair day and if i ever get it to work find if not i will just try another brand of X-TERNAL HDD for back up enough is enough, thanks for all the help i am done with this for now.
