TOUCHSCREEN!!

I have to admit, I handled an IPOD Touch the other day and it was beautiful.  The videos were great and the sync was almost flawless.  In order to stay competitive, I suggest Sandisk do a touchscreen 3.5 inch screen MP3.  I would buy it, but for right now the IPod Touch is pulling on me…

Do you want it back enough to pay another $100 or more for it? Then just buy the pod. A touch-screen would also be prone to more more scratching and that screen would have to be larger, also adding to the cost.

Besides it’s just one more technological ‘enhancement’ that isn’t really an ‘improvement’. It’s there for the ‘glitz factor’. Glitz doesn’t make it sound any better. It’s only purpose is for showing off to other people with the intention of making them envious. I’m not that insecure or vain.

No thank you, too many manufacturers are already ‘cloning’ & copying the pod in different ways as it is. Let’s leave the similarities that exist and hope they strive to stand-out on their own. You will never be the leader if you always follow. "Different’ is what sets the Apple products apart. SanDisk and others should attempt to find their ‘unique’ place in the market without resorting to mimicking those who have had the most success in hopes that some of it will rub off on them. All you can hope for with that philosophy is to get to sweep up some of the crumbs left behind.

SanDisk already is the leader in flash memory, and their line of players take advantage of that. Well OK, they could take ‘better advantage’ without the current firmware limitation. But that aside, this is what sets them apart. That plus the superior sound quality already gives them an edge that lures former ‘pod-heads’ over. To focus and build on your strengths is the way to get ahead, not merely attempting to ‘follow the leader’.

I say give me a solid little mp3 player with plenty of on-board ‘flash’ memory plus the micro-SDHC slot for adding even more; dependable ‘working’ controls, long battery life, superior sound, maybe video capability, a community support forum, a company that strives to improve their product with firmware enhancements, bug fixes, new features & functions, and . . .

Wait a minute . . . we already have that now, don’t we?
